PUMPKINS, PAWS & PINTS
Sunday, October 29th
Join us for a spooktacular event on Sunday, October 29th from 2pm – 4pm to get into the Halloween spirit: Pumpkins, Paws & Pints on Pappas Way. Mark your calendars for this free event that promises a ghoulishly good time.

BLUEBIKES
A Bluebikes station has been added at 645 Summer Street (located on Pappas Way), encouraging exploration of the Reserved Channel’s beautiful waterfront. Stop by 645 Summer Street to pick up your BlueBike or book your bike online now.
HISTORICAL SIGNAGE
Historical signage scattered throughout the waterfront tells the story of the site’s past in a thoughtful and informative way. We encourage visitors to take a walk through the waterfront and envision the vibrant history of South Boston.
Powerhouse Café and Catering
Located inside 645 Summer Street, Powerhouse Café and Catering is an all-natural juice bar specializing in cold-pressed juice. They have a variety of juices, smoothies, salads, smoothie bowls, and sandwiches—all organic, made from scratch, and sourced from local Massachusetts farms. Drop by Monday-Friday 8am-3pm.
Solar Energy
Recognizing the opportunity to contribute to clean energy generation, two of the buildings along Pappas Way host solar arrays on their rooftops. The panel systems are substantial, numbering amongst the largest in Massachusetts and fully fueling the Cambridge Public School System with roughly 2.8 megawatts of annual power.
In Case You Missed It
Halloween Parade
Earlier this fall, Pappas Commerce Center hosted the Happy Haunting Halloween Parade organized by the MOMS Club of South Boston. The event provided local families with a safe, socially distant alternative to trick-or-treating.
Toy Drive
During the 2020 holiday season, Pappas Commerce Center set up a collection point for donated children's toys, which were then distributed to local families.
Opening Celebration
Recreation Station’s Opening Celebration on September 8, 2021 was a wonderful way to introduce the South Boston community to this new amenity on Pappas Way while celebrating the end of summer. The event had complimentary food from American Provisions, drinks from Powerhouse Café and Catering and live music from Chris Walton.
Comic Strip Making at Recreation Station
Kicking off the first art class at Recreation Station on September 11, 2021, Karl Stevens led an afternoon filled with comic strip making. From filing in dialogue, adding in color and creating comic strips from scratch, this was a fun way to enter the world of comic strip making. This was a free event for all levels and ages.
Painting Class at Recreation Station
Dipping into the world of painting was made easy by local Boston artist Erica Goldstein of The Blank Canvas Co. On September 25, 2021, guests painted cocktails to be displayed on their bar carts, while kids explored painting fruit. Complimentary juice from Powerhouse Cafe & Catering and snacks from Capo Restaurant and Supper Club were provided.
Graffiti Class at Recreation Station
Our final art class of the season on October 9, 2021 dove into graffiti techniques and style. This class was led by South Boston artist Alex Borgella, founder of Impeccable Scoop. Guests spray painted their own canvases and layered paint and acrylic markers on top. Powerhouse Cafe & Catering provided juice and snacks from Hunter’s Kitchen and Bar were enjoyed by all.
Barks, Brews & Boos
On Sunday, October 24, 2021, we celebrated the spooky season at Barks, Brews & Boos. Neighbors (and pets!) gathered for an afternoon of animal-friendly Halloween fun. Three special dogs took home prizes from Polkadog in our Pet Costume Contest. Guests enjoyed beer and wine while getting portraits and caricatures done with their pets. Complimentary snacks were provided by American Provisions (including special treats for furry friends).
Fabric Printing Class with Susana McDonnell
On September 10, 2022, the Art Series at Recreation Station returned with a fabulous fabric printing class with local Boston artist Susana McDonnell of LinoCave. Guests discovered the joys of designing, creating patterns, and printing their own artwork on bandanas with ink.
Mosaic Class with Emily Bhargava
On September 24, 2022, Boston mosaic artist Emily Bhargava of Connection Lab led friends and neighbors through a workshop that introduced the art of using tiles and colorful glass to create a take-home masterpiece.
Pottery Class with Samantha Hoff
On October 8, 2022, with the help of our neighbors at In Good Company, a local South Boston business, the community joined on Pappas Way for an afternoon of pottery making. Led by artist Samantha Hoff, founder of Pottery with a Purpose, people of all ages and levels had fun creating mini pumpkins, dishes, and other unique designs.
Recreation Station Halloween Gathering
On Saturday, October 29, 2022, friends and neighbors gathered for Halloween at the Recreation Station along Pappas Way. Families enjoyed trick or treating fun with spooky music, complimentary face painting and a raffle featuring gift cards from local South Boston businesses.
GAME DAY AT PAPPAS WAY
June 8, June 15, and June 22
Join us for Game Day on Pappas Way, where we're giving bingo a mischievous musical twist. Friends and families can sing along to Disney hits, time-travel through the decades, and enjoy pop tunes and Taylor Swift chart-toppers alongside tasty food and drinks.
SOUTHIE REVIVE & THRIVE
On September 24th, neighbors joined us on Pappas Way to reset and
unwind at Southie Revive & Thrive. The event started with a revitalizing
yoga class, followed by smoothies & snacks. Activities for all were offered
including plant making, massages and tarot card readings.
